The Rules and Procedures of the Tenth Polish Philosophical Congress

 I. § General provisions

  1. The Tenth Polish Philosophical Congress, further called the Congress, will take place on September 15–19, 2015 in the Adam Mickiewicz University Hall building at ul. św. Marcin 81 and in the UAM Collegium Iuridicum Novum building, at Al. Niepodległości 53 in Poznań.
  2. The organizer of the Congress is the Institute of Philosophy of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, at ul. Szamarzewskiego 89C in Poznań, further called the Organizer.

  4. The Congress will include plenary sessions, thematic sections, panel discussions, special symposia, and additional events.
  5. The Organizer reserves the right to change the order of the presentations for reasons beyond the Organizer’s control.
  6. The Organizer reserves the right to change the date of the Congress for reasons beyond the Organizer’s control.
  7. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel the Congress should there be too few participants or in the case of other fortuitous events beyond the Organizer’s control.
  8. Should the Congress be canceled, the Organizer will inform the participants about it at least 7 days before the planned date of the Congress.
  9. The languages of the Congress will be Polish and Congress languages.

II. § The principles of Congress participation and its cancellation

  1. In order to participate in the Congress it is necessary to:
    1. submit the application form available on the Congress website;
    2. pay the Congress fee in the amount given by the Organizer;
    3. invited guests (representatives of authorities, sponsors, persons with honorable mention from previous Congress) do not have to register via the Internet.
  2. The deadline for the submission of the application forms is April 30, 2015. Participants submitting the application forms after that date may not be able to use all the options on offer.
  3. The Congress fee ought to be sent to the Organizer’s account: (Uniwersytet im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, ul. Wieniawskiego 1, 61-712 Poznań, BZ WBK 77 1090 1362 0000 0000 3601 7903), with the following description: K00000503 and the participant’s name and surname, as well as his or her affiliation, no later than May 31, 2015.
  4. At a participant’s individual request the Organizer will issue an invoice for the participation in the Congress, no later than 14 days after the Congress has ended.
  5. The Organizer has the right to refuse participation in the Congress to a person which has not paid the Congress fee within the given time.
  6. A participant of the Congress is a person who presents a paper, who does not present a paper, who participates in a discussion panel, who participates in the special symposia, or who is an invited guest.
  7. The right to present a paper is granted on the basis of a qualification process conducted within the framework of a review procedure of the submitted abstract.
  8. The Organizator will issue certificates of participation in the Congress.
  9. The Congress fee is PLN 290, except for students and doctoral students who pay PLN 240. The fee covers the costs of:
    1. the participation in all Congress sessions,
    2. the use of the rooms and the infrastructure of the buildings in which the Congress will be taking place,
    3. Congress materials (including the book of abstracts and the Congress program),
    4. refreshments during coffee breaks and during the whole Congress,
    5. participation in the additional events (concerts, plays, exhibitions, trips),
    6. the administration and organization of the Congress.
  10. The Congress fee does not cover travel expenses, meals, or accommodation.
    1. The Organizer provides coupons for selected meals (the inaugural supper on the first day, dinners and suppers on the second, third, and fourth day, and the dinner on the fifth day of the Congress).
    2. The Organizer arranges accommodation for the participants, in hotels and dormitories, according to the participants’ preferences. Booking is organized by way of individual contact of the participants with the hotels, and in the case of the dormitories rooms are booked through the Organization Committee.
  11. The Organizer does not offer individual or group insurance for the participants.
  12. After May 31, 2015 the Congress fee will grow by 20%.
  13. A participant may resign the participation in the Congress. The resignation should be submitted in written form, in accordance with the conditions stated below, by June 31, 2015. The statement should be sent by registered mail (date as postmarked) to the address: Instytut Filozofii UAM, ul. Szamarzewskiego 89C, 60-568 Poznań, with the description: “Philosophical Congress – resignation”.
    1. The Organizer will return the Congress fee to the participant, minus 15%of the total amount;
    2. Should the Organizer receive the statement of the resignation after July 31, 2015 (date as postmarked), there will be no return of the Congress fee.
  14. The Congress fee will be refunded in total in the case of a situation described in § I, point 7. In such a case, the Organizer does not cover the additional costs born by the participant in relation to the Congress.

III. § Final provisions

  1. A participant’s registration entails the acceptance of these Rules and Procedures.
  2. The registration as a participant of the Congress constitutes an agreement to the use of the participant’s personal data by the Organizer in accordance with Polish legal regulations, in particular the act of parliament of August 29, 1997 on the protection of personal data (Journal of Laws, No. 133, item 883, with later amendments).
  3. Any disagreement which might arise in relation to the participation in the Congress will be settled by the court having jurisdiction over the Organizer’s seat.
  4. Cases not covered by these Rules and Principles are subject to Civil Code.
  5. Participation in the Congress entails the transfer of proprietary copyrights to recordings and photographs and the agreement to their use when:
    1. a participant will be filmed or photographed on the premises of the objects in which the Congress will be taking place,
    2. a participant will agree to be interviewed or pose for a photograph,
    3. a participant’s presentation will be transmitted on the Internet or TV.
  6. Sending an abstract means the participant has agreed to publish it and transfer the proprietary copyrights to the Organizer.
  7. Participants will bear full material responsibility for any damages they might cause in the buildings in which the Congress will be held.
  8. The Organizer will not be responsible for the participants’ things which might be lost, damaged, or stolen during the Congress.
  9. The Organizer reserves the right to making changes in these Rules and Principles.
  10. These Rules and Principles will become effective as of February 1, 2015.
